Our CEO Thomas Ingold was invited last week by West Yorkshire Police to witness the innovative capabilities of DroneControl's FirstResponder system during the Exercise Dark Shadow. This exercise, organized by Yorkshire Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team (YAS HART), is a seven-week initiative starting from November 2nd, 2023, aimed at enhancing night-time search and rescue operations.
The Exercise Dark Shadow, set in the challenging terrain of How Stean Gorge, Lofthouse, Pateley Bridge, Harrogate, is designed to test and improve the skills of YAS HART staff. It encompasses Swift Water Rescue, Safe Working at Height, and the application of Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP). These demanding scenarios provide an ideal environment to demonstrate the efficiency and versatility of DroneControl's FirstResponder solution.
The exercise will not only involve YAS HART but also a collaboration with other key emergency service agencies. Each week, members from HM Coastguard, West Yorkshire Police, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, and the Mountain Rescue Service will participate, bringing a diverse range of skills and expertise to the table.
It provides an opportunity to showcase how DroneControl's FirstResponder can be integrated into real-world emergency scenarios. The exercise showed the positive impact that our secure live streaming, remote-control and what3words integration can have on incident response.
The setting at How Stean Gorge is particularly suited for this exercise, offering a range of challenging landscapes. The rugged terrain will test the limits of both the emergency responders and the technology, ensuring that the learning and development gained from this exercise are of the highest caliber.
A huge thanks to Chris Ellis UAV Chief Pilot West Yorkshire Police and Matt Jerram CBRN and UAV support West Yorkshire Police for the partnership and invitation to the event. We look forward to working together closely in the future.
